Stays Pattaya Privacy Policy

Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

Stays Pattaya (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a hotel guide for Pattaya, Thailand, published at stayspattaya.com. The site is run by Rob, an individual publisher based in Thailand. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what choices you have.

It covers everything on the site: articles, hotel guides, forms, and any links or ads you interact with. By using the site, you accept this policy. If you don’t agree with it, please don’t use the site.

Information We Collect

We collect very little directly. Most data comes from the tools described in the next sections.

TypeExamplesHow we get it
Information you give usName, email address, message contentContact forms, emails, newsletter sign-ups, comments
Device and usage dataIP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time on page, referring site, approximate location (city or country level)Collected automatically through cookies, analytics and server logs
Interaction dataLinks and ads clicked, including affiliate linksCollected by analytics, affiliate and advertising partners

We don’t ask for payment details, passport numbers or hotel booking information. If you book a hotel through a link on the site, that booking happens on the partner’s website under their privacy policy, not ours.

Cookies, Analytics and Tracking

The site uses cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, tags). Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help the site work, measure traffic and remember your settings.

Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, UK and Thailand), we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time using the cookie settings link in the site footer.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but some features may not. Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. We honour Global Privacy Control where the law requires it.

Affiliate Links and Disclosure

Some links on Stays Pattaya are affiliate links. If you click one and book a hotel or buy a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This helps fund the site. It does not change the price you pay, and we only list properties we’ve assessed against our guest-policy criteria.

When you click an affiliate link, the partner (for example a hotel booking platform) sets a cookie or reads a tracking parameter so they can attribute the booking to us. They may receive your IP address, device information and the page you came from. What they do with that data is covered by their own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.

We don’t receive your booking details or payment information from these partners. We only see summary reports, such as the number of clicks and total commission earned.

Advertising

We may show ads on the site, served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense or similar). These partners use cookies and identifiers to show ads, measure how they perform and, in some cases, tailor them to your interests based on your browsing across different sites.

These networks act as independent controllers of the data they collect. We don’t control their cookies and don’t have access to the profiles they build.

You can manage ad personalisation in these ways:

  • Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to decline advertising cookies.
  • Adjust your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) or Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu).
  • Use your device’s ad-tracking controls, such as limiting ad tracking on iOS or resetting your advertising ID on Android.

Opting out doesn’t remove ads. It means the ads you see are less likely to be based on your activity.

How We Use, Share and Keep Information

We use information to run and secure the site, understand which content is useful, reply to your messages, send newsletters you asked for, earn affiliate and advertising revenue, and meet legal obligations. Where GDPR or Thailand’s PDPA applies, our legal bases are your consent (cookies, newsletters), our legitimate interest in running and improving the site, and legal compliance.

We don’t sell your personal information for money. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that host the site, provide analytics, email and security.
  • Affiliate and advertising partners, through the cookies and identifiers described above.
  • Authorities or other parties where the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
  • Correct or update inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information, or restrict or object to how we use it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

This includes rights under Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), the EU and UK GDPR, and privacy laws in US states such as California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents can also opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context advertising. Some advertising and affiliate cookie use may count as “sharing” under those laws, and you can opt out through the cookie settings link in the footer. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

To make a request, email us at the address in the Contact section below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we aim to respond within 30 days. In Thailand you can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Committee.
