Soi Buakhao & LK Metro Guest-Friendly Hotels: Area Guide & Top Vetted Picks
Soi Buakhao is where Pattaya’s expats actually live: a long, busy street of local food stalls, massage shops, laundries, beer bars and markets, with the LK Metro entertainment alley at its heart. You get more for your money here than on Beach Road, and the nightlife starts at your front door. The catch is noise, so which room you book matters as much as which hotel.
Vetted Soi Buakhao & LK Metro Hotels
All five hotels below are guest-friendly, and we’ve checked each one in person, including the entrance for wheelchair access. Where a hotel gave us its policy in writing, we quote it word for word; where we confirmed it at the front desk, we say so. Check the occupancy rules, because two of these hotels base the visitor charge on how many adults are on the booking.

1. P Plus Hotel
Price tier: $ (budget, up to ฿1,200) · Stars: 4★
Amenities: WiFi · TV · Safe (too small for a laptop) · Fridge · Gym · Pool
Wheelchair access: Yes, but the entrance ramp is very steep. A wheelchair user will need someone to push them up.
Guest policy, confirmed verbally at the front desk:
“Max 2 people included in booking; extra person charge of 500 Baht applies beyond that; visitor leaves ID card at reception during their stay.”
Baht Bus Distance:
- Second Road: 600 m (8 minute walk)
- Beach Road: 900 m (13 minute walk)
- Soi Buakhao: 150 m (2 minute walk)

Our take. P Plus is a budget-priced hotel with a 4-star feature set: pool, gym, fridge and safe. Don’t judge it by the lobby, which is functional and no-frills. The pool is at the front of the building rather than tucked away at the back.
The soi has massage shops and bars, including Excite Club, but the hotel sits in a quiet spot. The policy works on head count: a room covers two people, so if you’re travelling alone, one visitor is included, and a third person costs ฿500.
The safe is too small for a laptop, so keep it with you or ask reception what they can hold. If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, plan for help at the entrance ramp.

2. Areca Lodge
Price tier: $$ (mid-range) · Stars: 4★
Amenities: WiFi · TV · Safe (size varies by room) · Fridge · Gym · Pool
Wheelchair access: Yes, standard accessible entrance.
Guest policy, in the hotel’s words:
“We are pleased to inform you that Areca Lodge Hotel is a guest-friendly hotel. If you stay alone, we do not charge a joiner fee. However, for security purposes and the safety of all our guests, all visitors are required to leave their ID card or passport at the front desk upon arrival, which will be returned to them when they leave.”
Baht Bus Distance:
- Second Road: 210 m (3 minute walk)
- Beach Road: 500 m (7 minute walk via Mike Shopping Centre)
- Soi Buakhao: 170 m (2 minute walk)

Our take. I’ve stayed at Areca Lodge a few times, and it’s the one I’d point most people to in this zone. It’s a large complex on Soi Diana, off Second Road, set back from the road and backing onto Soi 15, with an exit on that side too. It’s minutes from LK Metro and surrounded by bars, yet it’s quiet inside the complex, so you get the convenience without the noise.
It’s also the biggest hotel on this page: 216 rooms across three towers (Areca, Corona and Evergreen), from 32 m² rooms up to 120 m² suites. There are two outdoor pools, each with a built-in jacuzzi, plus a fitness centre, free parking, and several places to eat and drink on site, including a beer garden.
The joiner fee is waived if you stay alone, so book the room for one adult if you plan to have a visitor. Ask which tower you’re in when you book: the pools are in different wings, and the Cabana Pool keeps longer hours (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) than the Blue Ocean Pool (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

3. Hotel Amber Pattaya
Price tier: $$ (mid-range) · Stars: 4★
Amenities: WiFi · TV · Safe (size varies by room) · Fridge · Gym · Pool
Wheelchair access: Yes, standard accessible entrance.
Guest policy, confirmed verbally at the front desk:
“One guest permitted at no charge; visitor leaves ID card at reception during their stay.”
Baht Bus Distance:
- Second Road: 600 m (8 minute walk)
- Beach Road: 950 m (13 minute walk)
- Soi Buakhao: 180 m (2 minute walk)
Note: The hotel operates a complimentary shuttle service that drops guests off at nearby shopping districts and Pattaya Beach.

Our take. Hotel Amber is a modern mid-range 4-star, set back from the road in a quiet location opposite PP Massage. Head towards Soi Buakhao and you’ll find plenty of massage shops and restaurants. The pool is at the front of the building, and there’s a gym and a step-free entrance.
The policy is straightforward: one visitor free, with their ID held at reception while they’re upstairs. Safe sizes vary between rooms, so ask for a larger one if you’re carrying a laptop. The policy was given verbally, so get it confirmed in writing before you book.

4. Amethyst Hotel Pattaya
[Insert Exterior Photo]
Price tier: $$ (mid-range) · Stars: 4★
Amenities: WiFi · TV · Safe (size varies by room) · Fridge · Gym · Pool
Wheelchair access: Yes, standard accessible entrance.
Guest policy, confirmed verbally at the front desk:
“One guest permitted at no charge; visitor leaves ID card at reception during their stay.”
Baht Bus Distance:
- Second Road: 280 m (5 minute walk)
- Beach Road: 680 m (9 minute walk)
- Soi Buakhao: 300 m (1 minute walk)

Our take. Amethyst is a modern hotel on Soi Buakhao 15, in a convenient spot within walking distance of Avenue Shopping Centre, Royal Garden Plaza and Central Festival. Its standout feature is a rooftop infinity pool with views across the city and out to the Gulf of Thailand. There’s also a fitness centre, an IQAir air purification system, king beds with Euro-top mattresses, and fast-charge USB-C points in the rooms.
It’s near the corner of Soi Buakhao, so expect a bit more noise than at the other hotels on this page. A high floor away from the street is worth asking for. The policy matches Amber’s: one visitor free, ID held at reception. Safe sizes vary, so ask for a larger one if you need it, and get the verbal policy confirmed in writing.

5. LK Metropole
Price tier: $ (budget, up to ฿1,200) · Stars: 3★
Amenities: WiFi · TV · Safe (size varies by room) · Fridge · Gym · Pool
Wheelchair access: Yes, but the entrance ramp is very steep. A wheelchair user will need someone to push them up.
Guest policy, confirmed verbally at the front desk:
“One guest permitted at no charge; visitor leaves ID card at reception during their stay.”
Baht Bus Distance:
- Second Road: 360 m (5 minute walk)
- Beach Road: 650 m (9 minute walk via Mike Shopping Centre)
- Soi Buakhao: 85 m (1 minute walk)

Our take. LK Metropole is the budget pick for people who want LK Metro on the doorstep. It’s an older property than its sister hotel, LK The Empress, with an ornate lobby, and that style carries through to the rooms. The pool is at the front, and there’s a gym at the lower price point.
It’s quiet despite the location. One visitor is free, with their ID held at reception. Like P Plus, the entrance ramp is steep, so anyone in a wheelchair will need a hand getting in.

Living in Soi Buakhao & LK Metro: Area Guide & Survival Tips
Atmosphere & Vibe
Soi Buakhao is the centre of expat life in Pattaya. It runs parallel to Second Road, a few blocks inland, and it’s busy from morning to well after midnight: local eateries, open-air beer bars, massage shops, laundries, markets and motorbike repair shops, all jammed together.
It’s informal and it’s cheaper than the beach strip. Long-stayers come for the value and the local food; short-stay visitors come for LK Metro, the L-shaped entertainment alley that links Soi Buakhao with Soi Diana.
Pros and Cons of Staying in Soi Buakhao & LK Metro
Pros
- Rooms, food and drinks cost noticeably less than on Beach Road.
- LK Metro and dozens of beer bars are a short walk from every hotel on this page.
- Almost every block has a laundry, a pharmacy, a 7-Eleven or a street market.
- Baht buses run along Soi Buakhao, and the Beach Road and Second Road loop is a short walk or ride away.
- Some of the best cheap Thai food in Pattaya is on this street.
Cons
- Bars, traffic and motorbikes run late into the night, and street-facing rooms hear all of it.
- The beach is a 15 to 20 minute walk or a short ride away.
- The streets are busy and narrow, pavements are patchy, and traffic is heavy at peak times.
- Two hotels here have steep entrance ramps, which matters if anyone in your group uses a wheelchair.
Nightlife in Soi Buakhao
Soi Buakhao has a dense network of beer bars, sports bars and late-night spots, at prices well below Beach Road. If you want the nightlife right outside your door, this is the zone.
- LK Metro is the L-shaped alley between Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana, with beer bars, go-go bars, pubs and restaurants. It’s busy from early evening until late.
- Open-air beer bars and bar complexes line Soi Buakhao for most of its length.
- Soi Diana runs from Second Road to Soi Buakhao and links to the other end of LK Metro, with bars, restaurants and hotels along the way.
- Expat pubs across the area show live football and rugby, often with western food.
When you want a change of scene, Walking Street and Beach Road are a short baht bus ride or Grab away.
Getting Around: Baht Bus Routes
Soi Buakhao has its own baht bus route, and the main Beach Road and Second Road loop is only a few minutes’ walk away. Every hotel on this page is within a few hundred metres of an active route.
- To get along Soi Buakhao, flag a truck on the street. It runs between Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road, and the fare is ฿15.
- For the beach, the malls or Walking Street, walk through to Second Road, or ride to Central Pattaya Road or South Pattaya Road, and pick up the ฿15 loop. Heading south on Beach Road takes you to Walking Street.
- For Jomtien, ride to Second Road just south of the South Pattaya Road junction and change to the ฿20 Jomtien truck.
Raise your hand to flag a truck, press the buzzer to stop, and pay the driver as you get off. Don’t ask “how much to X” before you climb in, or you’ll be quoted a private charter. Trucks thin out after 10 p.m.; after that, use Grab or Bolt.
Supplies & Convenience
Soi Buakhao is built for everyday living. There’s a 7-Eleven or FamilyMart every block or so, with pharmacies, laundry shops and massage shops in between.
The street has a regular market selling food, clothes and household goods, plus a fresh market for fruit, vegetables and meat. Drop-off laundries charge by the kilo and are everywhere. Street stalls, Thai restaurants and western pubs often sit side by side.
Noise & Room Selection Advice
Soi Buakhao and LK Metro can stay loud well past midnight, so your room matters more here than anywhere else in Pattaya. A street-facing room on a low floor and a back room on a high floor make for two very different nights.
| Spot | Noise Profile | Good For |
|---|---|---|
| Soi Buakhao street frontage | Traffic, bars and motorbikes until late | Convenience, people-watching |
| LK Metro and its entrances | Bar music until late | Nightlife on foot |
| Soi Diana | Busy, with bars at the LK Metro end | Quick access to Second Road |
| Side sois off Soi Buakhao | Quieter | Sleep, longer stays |
When you book, ask for a room on a high floor facing away from the street. If the hotel can’t promise that, pack earplugs.
Most of the hotels on this page are quieter than their location suggests. Areca Lodge and Hotel Amber are set back from the road, and P Plus and LK Metropole are quiet despite being close to the action. Amethyst is near the corner of Soi Buakhao, so it’s the one where room choice matters most.
